Bike Tire Sealant

Bike tire sealant can be used in either traditional tube or in tubeless tire setups as an extra layer of added flat protection. Tire sealant is designed to coat the inside of the tire, or tube depending on setup, and in the event of a puncture or leak the sealant fills up these spaces (up to a 1/4 inch) and stops the escaping air so you can keep riding.

Tubeless setups utilize tire sealant and offer weight saving advantages over tubes eliminating the potential for pinch flats. Compatible with both tube and tubeless setups.

Bike tire sealant keeps you riding in conditions that may have otherwise left you on the side of a trail replacing or patching tubes. Tubeless tire setups with sealant offer improved handling, more grip, and smoother riding at high speeds. Ability to run lower pressures with tubeless setups means more traction.

Bike tire sealant can plug punctures without you even noticing, but some formulas work better than others. We put 80ml of each in identical tubeless tires, inflated them to 30psi and punctured them until they no longer sealed. So which one performed best? Finish Line is now selling tubeless mountain bike tire sealant, and they claim that their formula will never dry out. As a result, they claim there’s no need to refresh the sealant every few months, and that the “sealant will last the entire usable life of the tire.” This is a pretty bold claim that we hope to put to the test ourselves.

Finish Line says the sealant is “naturally non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and safe for carbon fiber rims,” since it doesn’t have any liquid latex or ammonia in the solution. The company also claims the sealant is much easier to clean up as a result. When you find yourself in an emergency flat tire situation (like stuck on the side of a super busy highway, or in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service), it is time to think yellow label. Slime’s Tire sealant  for emergencies is designed for all highway vehicles (cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles and more) to get you back on the road quickly and safely after a flat tire.

How is this possible? Finish Line has created a technology they call Fiber Link, which uses Kevlar fibers to plug any holes or punctures that may occur. “As the tire flexes while it is ridden, the Fiber Link mesh tightens and reinforces itself, creating a confidence-inspiring seal that will last ride-after-ride,” according to Finish Line. Finish Line Bike tire sealant is available in 4oz, 8oz.
